What is Photo Rejuvenation and how does it work?

Medical Grade IPL is a safe, fast and gentle way to improve Pigmentation Lesions (freckles, age spots, sun spots), fine wrinkles, Vascular Lesions (broken capillaries on the surface of the skin) and Rosacea.

Using a process called Selective Photo Thermolysis a pulse of light targets the Melanin in Pigmentation and Haemoglobin in the capillaries which stimulates collagen and elastin production in the skin. As a result a more even skin tone is evidenced and an improvement of the skins all over texture and complexion.

What will my treatment feel like?

The area to be treated is sterilised and a conductive gel is applied. The short pulses of light will feel like the ‘snap’ of an elastic band on the skin surface. At the end of the treatment a cooling gel is applied to reduce temporary redness and swelling (similar to a sunburn). This usually subsides within a day.

How many treatments will I need?

Every individual is different so results will vary. After a treatment, pigmented lesions will darken slightly and continue to fade over a month. Vascular Lesions can have immediate results or more treatments every 2 weeks. For some clients results can be seen in as little as one treatment. A series of three to five sessions is recommended in most cases for the best and most long lasting results.

How do I prepare for an IPL Laser treatment?

• avoid sun exposure & protect the area to be treated with an SPF30+ 4 weeks prior to treatment
• do not use self tanning lotions or solariums 4 weeks prior to treatment
• avoid any prescription strength exfoliant creams in the area prior to treatment
• no surgical or cosmetic procedures that may be contra-indicated for your treatment
